Ashbourne Animal Welfare

Ashbourne Animal Welfare, Ashbourne – Ashbourne Animal Welfare operates The Ark Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, for unwanted and stray cats and dogs. We provide all necessary care and veterinary attention , and pets are also neutered prior to adoption. The charity was formed in 1988 and has helped over 7000 animals to date.

The dogs in our care have large, comfortable dog kennels with outside runs. All our dogs go out for walks or playtime at least twice a day and we have 6 acres of grounds for our dog walkers to use, as well as several outdoor exercise paddocks. All of our dogs are assessed on arrival and, if necessary, work with our Animal Behaviourist to improve their social skills, general obedience and manners, to increase their chance of adoption. We also have an outdoor training compound where staff and volunteers can work one-to-one with dogs on specific behavioural programmes.
